According to a report in the Miami Herald, data from travel research firm STR indicates hotel room rates across South Florida continue to soar. During March of this year, average daily rates increased nearly 7.5% to more than $255 per night. That sent the key measure of revenue per room up more than 5%.
Continued strength in the hospitality sector is what Turnberry Associates’ Jeffrey and Jackie Soffer anticipated when the amenities at Turnberry’s two luxury hotels in the region –Fontainebleau Miami Beach and Turnberry Isle Miami.
The enhancements appeal to international visitors to South Florida, who account for nearly three quarters of all tourism dollars spent in the area. For the many discerning foreign tourists who wish to stay at upscale, luxury resorts, Fontainebleau Miami Beach and Turnberry Isle Miami have become favorites.
The resorts…and the region…likely will remain ranked at or near the top.
For March, Rolando Aedo, chief marketing officer for the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, told the Herald the Miami area had the highest daily rates and per-room revenue of the top 25 hotel destinations.
“We have more business in our hotels, we have a lot more hotel rooms, and we’re charging more than ever,” Aedo added.
